Eagle City Park is a 35 acre privately owned recreational gold prospecting / mining park located in the Coeur d'Alene National Forest at the old townsite of Eagle City in North Idaho. We are 26 miles from Interstate 90 (Exit 43) via the Coeur d'Alene River Road from Kingston, Idaho. The park is between Prichard and historic Murray, Idaho. Eagle City was the site of the first gold rush in the Coeur d'Alene's.

Visitors and members enjoy a wide range of activities including: Gold Panning * Sluicing * Sniping * Metal Detecting * Outdoor Recreation * Relaxing and Best of all "You Keep All the Gold You Find!". Owners are on site at least 5 days a week. Volunteers needed in 6th grade Environmental Education Program 10/6/24 thru 4/6/25, full 6 months. Selection Priority is given to couples, but singles will also be considered. Main duty is to assist Park Rangers during curriculum-based environmental school field trips to the preserve or lead groups if needed. This includes group management, safety, and assisting students with the use of scientific equipment. Groups hike through cypress swamps, prairies and pinelands. For much of the season the hike will be in knee to hip deep water. Trips may be presented virtually on iPads as well.

Volunteers may also assist rangers with wet walks, canoe trips, festivals and special events in the preserve and neighboring communities and other projects when needed.

Couples must work a minimum of 32 hrs/week each. Workdays are typically weekdays but may vary each week and include some weekends for an occasional special program, event or festival. Volunteers will have time off during Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Volunteers have the opportunity to assist other divisions with projects, visit other agencies in the area and training opportunities.

Volunteers must have enthusiasm, enjoy and have experience working with children, good communication skills and flexibility with a changing work-week schedule. A teaching background and knowledge of natural science are a plus but not required. Must be able to hike sometimes in hip deep water on a rough trail in the South Florida heat with long periods of standing! Volunteers are subject to a Federal Government Background Check. This is not a paid position. An R.V. Pad with full hook ups in our volunteer campground is provided. Laundry facilities, pool and weight room are also available.

My husband works with the ski patrol and in the summer is a building contractor, he loves to ride dirt bikes and backpack. I have a small art studio where I make stained glass and other projects.
